Servicing
All boilers should be serviced annually, or after any long breaks in being used.
This will ensure they're working correctly, burning the gas efficiently and most importantly, safely. It will also significantly increase their life expectancy.

During a service, our engineer will
~STRIP YOUR HIPPO BOILER UNIT DOWN but don't worry, it's done with tonnes of love and care, your Hippo will thank you for it!
~CLEAN GAS JETS & REPLACE ANY WORN ONES which means your gas flows cleanly
~CONDUCT A 'TIGHTNESS TEST' which is very important. It ensures no pressure is lost and that there are no microscopic gas leaks that would otherwise go unnoticed until there was a problem
~CHEMICALLY CLEAN BATTERY TRAY AND TERMINALS & REPLACE IF NECESSARY there's no extra charge if you need a new battery tray
~CLEAR ALL GAS PATHWAYS
~CHECK FLAME PATTERN and adjust if needed
~REPLACE WASHERS IN THE LPG INLET with high quality appropriate gas washers
~INSPECT AND REPLACE WIRING in case its worn or been nibbled by a mousey
~MAKE ADJUSTMENTS TO BOILER UNIT TO CUSTOMERS SPECIFICATIONS eg high or low water pressure/flow
~REPLACE HIGH PRESSURE LPG GAS HOSE (although the hoses are made to last for 5 years, we prefer to do this annually to ensure maximum safety)
~ATTACH NEW GAS REGULATOR using our thumb turn (no tools required) super dooper regulator which helps prevent gas leaks
~CLEAN THE UNIT THOROUGHLY INTERNALLY AND EXTERNALLY which usually means taking vast quantities of cobwebs and creepy crawlies out.... please use a cover peeps!

It is also possible to replace extra parts - eg in the case of frost damage the heat exchanger will need replacing. If these things are needed and not covered under your warranty then we will contact you with a quote for the cost. But don't panic, nothing is ridiculously expensive to fix or replace.

PLEASE FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS VERY CAREFULLY TO SEND YOUR HIPPO BACK FOR A SERVICE:

-
Unattach the WATER hoses only, these are a simple push fit connection, so you just need to gently pull the little brass sleeve down at the top to release the fitting.
-
LEAVE THE GAS HOSE AND REGULATOR ATTACHED (this is the orange hose)
-
Remove the silver boiler from the frame - to do this, undo the single bolt at the top and the bottom using an allen key and 10mm spanner. We only need the boiler, not the frame, as it will add significantly to your postage costs.
-
Wrap well, and tuck it up into a box.
-
Download the paperwork below, print it out, fill it in and pop into the box with your boiler.

We tend to use Parcel Monkey to send boilers, as they are reliable and cheap. This should cost approx £9. Depending on the box size you use. www.parcelmonkey.co.uk

You are responsible for the safe packaging and delivery of your boiler to us. We will package it well to return it. You are also responsible for the cost of the courier to us, we will arrange the return delivery.
If there are repairs that are chargeable (eg not covered by your warranty, or service you’ve paid for), we’ll contact you to confirm this, however we will keep the costs as low as possible. We will upgrade you free of charge to a new gas hose and regulator as a part of your service.
If you have any questions, please let us know. We’re always here to help.
